Welcome to the Canberra Astronomical Society website!

CAS caters to the needs of amateur astronomers in and around Canberra and the ACT, Australia. If you’re interested in astronomy, you’ve come to the right place—why not consider becoming a member?

Update: Our normal meetings are now in our new home, the common room of the main building, just north of the Duffield lecture theatre. We start at 7:30pm. We open our Celestron EdgeHD telescope afterwards (weather permitting).

This year’s Bi-annual NACAA conference (National Australian Convention of Amateur Astronomers) is being hosted by the Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club Inc. in Tamworth, NSW, over the Easter weekend of the 3rd – 5th April, 2026.
This is open to anyone interested to register and come along for a great program of speakers and presentations (refer to the detailed program), with the welcome dinner held on Friday night, the conference dinner & awards with Fred Watson on Saturday evening and the Farwell BBQ function held at TRAC’s Regional Astronomy & Science Centre on Sunday night.

You can find all the conference details, program, accommodation and registration at https://www.nacaa.org.au/2026
